c - Where does gcc come from when using linux terminal? -


i'm linux beginner, , don't know commands details now.

i have question can packages. example, when want "gcc", entered "yum install gcc". come -- on internet? or linux have beginning?

i windows user, , went websites "gcc" , download @ page. i'm puzzled can "gcc" from.

entering command "yum install gcc" directly install thepackage in files. it's in windows when donwload goes in download file, except packages go on /usr/bin.

doing "sudo apt-get install gcc" possibility.
