data visualization - Generating dynamic displayed annotations in Tableau dashboard -


given impressive flexibility of platform, feel there way accomplish i'm having trouble putting together. have dashboard in tableau comprised of 2 data visualizations. on 1 sheet have bar graph of sales category filtered month/year of sale, pretty straight forward. on other sheet have simple line graph of totals sales on time. gives user context sales per month see represented in bar graph.

what achieve this: when user changes month-year filter bar graph, annotation show on line graph highlights month in overall sales data along summary stats (total sales, average order price, etc.). have been reviewing following dynamic annotations concept http://vizpainter.com/dynamic-annotations-part-3/ don't think me want go. suggestions appreciated.

there 3 things need learn how use in tableau: tooltips, annotations , worksheet actions.

most data can added tooltip , formatted want. tooltips appear dynamically when hover on parts of dataviz. if want permanent labels can use annotations (which can attached data point or area , can contain dynamic data).

worksheet actions allow events on 1 sheet trigger changes in shown on another. example, selection of worksheet can highlight area on worksheet b, want.
